Reviews of Alesis ProActive 5.1 THX Surround Sound Package Feature: should have used analog volume control, and encoder is not very good. Example; turn the volume up very fast and it doesn't respond. gotta turn the dial slowly. Quality: see above Sound: Ok. These speakers sound great for home theater use. For mixing they are very bass heavy. (used in an untreated room)You can control the level of the sub seperate from the rest of the speakers, however, it is a digital volume control. This means that all the way down the sub turns off. 1 click up and it's too loud. I am about to head to guitar center to return these. If they used an analog volume control these would be killer. they are made by logitech, and all alesis did was license them and add money to the price. The logitech are identical except name plate. Also, they are computer speakers, alesis just calls them monitors. Support: never called them. Overall: if you need to mix surround or want cheap home theater speakers that rock, get the logitech speakers z-680 which these are knockoffs of for 100$ less.
