Reviews of Edirol SD80 Studio Canvas USB MIDI Sound Module and Synthesizer
Feature: The usb cable was included. The most useful feature is using the native mode. The instrument definition is included on the CD;very useful if you use Cakewalk.
Quality: It's a Roland! Do I need to say more. The unit is in my rack and travelled with us for over a year now. Never had a problem. We still bring a back-up to our gigs but it's mostly in case the computer freaks out.
Value: I did a lot of research before buying this product like when I buy any other piece of gear. And I am very happy with my purchase.
Desirability: I did ot buy this for the look. It was rack mountable. The unit set up is very simple(remember KISS{Keep It Simple and Stupid)and easy to use.
Sound: I use the sd-80 to play back midi files from Sonar. I use mostly the enhanced sounds, they're awesome.I had to remix all my midi files into native mode but it was worth it,what a diference.I like the fact that it's USB. No midi interface with all the cables
Support: The only time I've dealt with Roland was when I bought a SC 7 used. I emailed roland asking for a manual and was told they did'nt have one.Iwas really surprised to get one in the mail a few days later.
Overall: I expect to use this for a few years. For the way I use it I don't need to seek other features, it has everything I need.If it was stolen I would replace it right away.
