Reviews of Gibson Songwriter Deluxe Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar (Antique Natural, with Case) Value: I've been playing for about 35 years. I wanted to get an upscale acoustic cutaway with electronics. I originally bought a Taylor 814CE from Guitar Center, but ended up taking it back. Based on some of the reviews I read, I ordered the Gibson Songwriter deluxe cutaway sight unseen. Not only is it beautiful, but it sounds and plays great! I had to adjust the truss rod a bit to lower the action, but that's just part of normal setup. Most guitars "out of the box" are set too high for my taste. So if you see one of these, and you think it's not a quality axe because of the action, don't kid yourself. 5 minutes with 5/16" nut driver, and you'll be good to go. I like this axe better than any Talyor, Guild, or Tacoma I've played -- hands down! Sound: Nice crisp clean tone.
