Reviews of Planet Waves 44PL Planet Lock Quick Release Strap
Feature: Looks like you should never suffer from that sick feeling that happens when you see your guitar or bass falling to the floor in a slow-motion instant replay. The strap padding is pretty comfy too and should help reduce slippage from headstock-heavy basses.
Quality: Has nice rubber surfaces to prevent marring your guitar's finish.
Value: It is a lot cheaper than breaking you guitar on the floor.
Desirability: It is hard to get excited about a strap, I got the basic black version.
Sound: Regarding the buzzin on a previous posting: I was unable to get any sound from the strap lock when picking the E string on my Ric 4003. The problem might be related to different guitar end pins having different dimensions. I noticed that the makers of the strap will send you (for a couple of dollars postage) end pins that will work "flawlessly", so if anyone has this problem, they might take them up on the new pins being offered (no, I don't work for them).
Support: Have not contacted the company, but they offer free guitar pins if you have any problems.
Overall: We'll see in a couple of years of use how things hold up. Even if there are any buzzing sounds, they would have to get pretty loud to hear anything with an amp turned-up or a drummer going. I'll gladly take that chance over dropping my axe from using a cheap strap.
